Sharon Blott Johnson received a BFA from the University of Michigan in 1977 concentrating in ceramics and painting. She went into the ceramic tile business in Los Angeles working in showrooms and selling art tiles on the side.
In 1986, she moved back east to manage production in a custom tile factory and continued moving around getting tile installation experience and more studio production experience in South Carolina and Florida.
She opened her own studio in Atlanta, Georgia in 1992: Red Clay Tile. She sold her tiles through several local design shops and has installations all over the country. Her tiles have been featured in Southern Living Magazine.
After making her living as a website manager, she now spends her days working in clay, painting and textiles.
